Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-6-2 Class R-4-A 1949, date, location, and photographer unknown, Chuck Zeiler collection. The chosen date and location based on the CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet dated February 1, 1952. Number 1949 was built as class R-4 by Brooks in January 1905 (c/n 30405) rebuilt to class R-4-A in March 1924, and retired in October 1953. It has a smokebox entension, generally a sign of a Lignite coal burner on the CB&Q.
