Title:
PRR Cab Ride, #4 of 9, 1962
Description:
Cab Ride. Here is the fourth of nine successive original photos that I took while riding in the cab of a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger locomotive on 29 December 1962. Shown here are two diesel locomotives pulling an eastbound freight near Derry, Pennsylvania. The unit closest to the camera is PRR engine #2403, an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. It's practically brand new! (Color "Super Slide" converted to B&W.)

Title:
PRR 2278, EF-25, 1965
Description:
WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2278, #2403, #2425, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #2278 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2403 is an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. #2425 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are passing through the Altoona Passenger Station with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way to Enola and points East. Also visible (L to R) are two of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings and the PRR Test Plant building.
